This weekend (27/01/07) saw one of our ex players, Scott Sinclair hit the national sporting headlines, both on TV and in the written press. Scott scored a fine individual effort, the second of Plymouths goals in their 2-0 FA Cup Fourth Round victoy over Barnet. He is currently on loan to The Pilgrims from Premiership Champions Chelsea. Scott has been a regular scorer for the Chelsea Youth and Reserve sides.
END OF AN ERA - LEAGUE CUP WINNERS 2004 - 05
Today (15/05/05) saw the conclusion of our season in the Barry Curtis Memorial Trophy League Cup Final versus Trowbridge Town. The game was played at The Conigre, home of Melksham Town. In bright sunny conditions the game began with both teams somewhat nervous and struggling to settle down into any rhythm.
However Trowbridge broke the deadlock with a close range finish after we failed to clear the ball. This spurred the lads slightly and we pressed for an equaliser but the Trowbridge keeper kept us out. Half Time 0-1.
A half time rocket from Barry and a couple of changes saw us improve. However their keeper continued to frustrate us as we exerted consistent pressure. Eventually we were rewarded as Ross Lye scored to bring us level. With extra time looming we pushed forward again and were awarded a penalty following a handball inside the box. Robert Hobbs converted confidently to give us a deserved win. Full Time 2-1.
This now sees the end of the team, next season seeing the lads move on to other clubs as they begin the transition to senior football. On behalf of the players and supporters of Bath Arsenal Under 16s a big thank you to coach Barry Thomson for his efforts not only this season but the preceding ones as well.
The boys will go on to be useful additions to their respective clubs, whoever that may be, and indeed most will go on to play to a very good standard.
Congratulations to the lads on winning the League Cup Final.WELL DONE.
Pictures from the match are now on the Picture Gallery page.
Congratulations to Tom Whadcock and Tom Pursall voted as joint Players Player Of The Year for this season.
